Morgan Monaco: Mt. Juliet High School
Mt. Juliet High School junior Morgan Monaco serves on her school's yearbook publication staff as the two-time standing editor in chief and managing, copy and design editor.
"Under my leadership, The Golden Leaf Yearbook has received two superior rankings from the THSPA, two first place awards from the ASPA and a first class critique from NSPA," Monaco said.
Monaco's journalism background began her freshman year, when she served on her school's yearbook publication staff as an assistant events manager and copy editor and began writing for The Golden Bear Gazette, the high school newspaper.
She was promoted to yearbook staff copy and design editor and editor in chief of both the school newspaper and yearbook her sophomore year.
In addition to student journalism, Monaco devotes her time to school government and clubs while maintaining a 4.0 weighted GPA and academically rigorous coursework including two SDC classes and one AP class.
She's completed a total of nine honors classes, one SDC class and one AP class throughout high school.
Monaco serves as the student body vice president, where she assists the student body president in planning events, pep rallies, fundraisers and meetings, and as a member of the National Honors Society and Future Business Leaders of America. She plans to run for student body president her senior year.
In her spare time outside school, she works as an ice skating coach coaching hockey and figure skating in group and one-on-one classes.
She plans to major in journalism and communications after graduation.
