Savley Takes First in State for 2024 Yearbook Sports Design

Addie Savley, a 2024 Mt. Juliet High School graduate, made Golden Leaf history by earning first place in the Sports Design category at the 2024 Tennessee High School Press Association (THSPA) awards. Her wrestling feature page, titled Pin It to Win It, stood out among entries from across the state and marked the program’s first-ever individual category win.

Savley’s layout was recognized for its visual impact, creative design, and strong storytelling. The Sports Design category saw heavy competition from top journalism programs across Tennessee.

“Addie’s work reflected the creativity, precision and professionalism we strive for in our publication,” said Mr. Judkins, yearbook adviser. “This win is a major milestone for our staff, and it’s exciting to see individual talent recognized at the state level. I am extremely proud of her."

THSPA, hosted by Lipscomb University, honors excellence in student media each year through its publication critiques and individual contests in writing, photography and design.
