Cadet Company Commander, Captain Rachel Blumhardt, with the Mt. Juliet High, Marine Corps JROTC, has been selected as the Governor’s Volunteer Star Recipient for Wilson County.

Blumhardt was the top candidate, recommended by the community and Mt. Juliet Mayor James Maness.

She will be honored at a banquet on February 16 at the Marriott in Cool Springs, where she will be joined by her parents.

Blumhardt, named Leader of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year, continues to demonstrate strong leadership both in and outside of the classroom. Blumhardt has volunteered over 200 hours since her freshman year with plans to exceed 250 hours by graduation.

"Our LOY recipient for the 23-24 school year, Rachel is not one to sit on her laurels," Major Intilli, co-director of the Mt. Juliet High Marine Corps JROTC program said.

Her ongoing commitment to service reflects her dedication to her community.

Blumhardt also recently received the Bear Banshee Flight Scholarship, choosing the helicopter option with Aeroluxe Aviation. She will soon schedule her flight and continue her preparation for a future in the Air Force.

“She is our Cadet Captain who has enlisted in the Air Force for active duty and plans to become an officer and pilot,” Major Intilli said.

Blumhardt is the ninth and final Bear Banshee Aviation Scholarship recipient for the current school year.
